  1. Visit the TIN-NSDL website and select TAN, then Apply Online.
  2. Choose Form 49B (Application for TAN).
  3. Fill in details like applicant type, PAN, AO code, address, and contact details.
  4. Pay the application fee online (via debit/credit card, net banking, or demand draft).
  5. On successful payment, generate an acknowledgement slip.
  6. Print, sign, and send the acknowledgement to NSDL’s Pune office for verification.

However, if the head office or a centralized unit is responsible for all tax deductions and collections for all branches, then a single TAN for that entity is sufficient.

  • Inability to Deposit TDS/TCS: Banks will not accept TDS/TCS payments without a valid TAN.
